Back after a long absence, and back in the marsh!

Hey guys, I've spent way too long AWOL from checking out this site, too much real life has been in the way and I really need to have more boat building and decoy making in my life! Things have finally settled down a bit, I finally got into the marsh to kick off the season and managed to hit an all-time lucky streak on birds! I had to delay the start of my season by a few weeks this year, but it turned out to be worth the wait. The weekend before the opener my dog Cedar got hung up on a fence and ended up getting a big gash on her side that took a dozen staples to close, so we had to wait until that was all healed up to get out. Finally headed out to the marsh last Friday morning, and it was worth the wait! First 2 birds of the season were nice drake canvasbacks, and as soon as my dog dropped off the second one a pair of geese locked up and came right in, I dropped one and should have had the second but he kept on cruising.

What a way to start the season!! Had a few more birds come in, got a nice pair of bluebills and a single mallard. I really count myself as lucky to have had such a nice start, hope you guys are getting into the birds!

Welcome back and nicely done. Glad to hear Cedar is all healed up. It really does make a difference in a hunt to have your dog along with you.

Thats one heck of a first day in the marsh!

Welcome back, stick around!

Thanks guys, I'm planning to stay more active on here! Cedar is doing great, according to her she was never hurt at all but the vet said otherwise. I did go on a few grouse hunting trips without her and that was hard on both of us!

Looks like your Devlin inspired design is still getting used. Welcome back. Glad to have you.

Yep, this will be her 4th season, I still have my smaller 12' sneakboat but I only end up hunting out if it a few times a year, my bigger boat has become my mainstay! Glad to be back, I was really missing keeping up with what's going on with like-minded hunters from all across the country.
