I own a bandsaw but know very little about buying bandsaw blades.
Does anybody have any advise in selection a brand of blade.
It will be used for general purpose wood.
I am using Olson blades now. Are the better brands, do I need a better brand.
Do I need carbon?

What do I need to know
thanks

Bill,

I use the Olson blades, don't know how they may compare to Olsen (maybe that is a cheap knockoff?)

Olson does make a couple grades for woodworking. Their "flex back" series is a lower grade than their "all pro PGT" series blades. I use the All Prop PGT and have bee quite satisfied with them. Hope this helps.

I have been very satisfied - for many years now - with these blades.

I use these narrow blades with few teeth for decoy work. A 3/8" with 10 teeth-per-inch is a good one for general use sawing thinner stuff. Suffolk Machinery folks are very helpful and knowledgeable.

And, you always want a backup blade hanging on the wall for when one breaks!

All the best,

SJS

I have the Olson blades that are getting dull. I am happy with the blades just wondering if there are better options.

Next time I am in the area I will be sure to visit the store.

Thanks,

Have you considered getting your current blades sharpened?

Eric

Eric,
I called the company that has sharpened handsaws for me. They do not sharpen bandsaw blades.
They will make me a blade for about $15.00 to $20.00 using morse stock.

Another Timberwolf user. I have never had an issue with them on my Grizzly ultimate saw with the riser kit
