Bankes Crusader stolen in Michigan

If you come across a Bankes Crusader with a 90hp E-tec tiller on it at a great price, it is likely a stolen boat.

A friend of mine who hunts waterfowl is down in the Metro Detroit area for Christmas. He was going to stop at Freeway Sports today to take a look at a Bankes boat they had in the used inventory. I sent him some photos yesterday on the drive downstate. I just checked the Bankes Boats website and saw a short secton of the message about a stolen boat on their Facebook page. Opened it up and looked at the pics, only to discover that it is the boat Steve was going to inspect... Odd, very very odd!

What baffles me is how they are going to get away with selling that rig. How can they aquire a title? Plus the hull number is molded in on the transom and on the bow inside the front storage compartment. Kinda hard to run that boat around and not get seen...

Unfortunately, it will probably get dumped or destroyed after it is figured out that it is a hassle to sell and register now.

Or else it is someone who is going to use it. Never once have I had anyone examine the boat registration number on any of my boats. Guy could always make a number up and put it on the boat and print a fake decal.

Sad commentary when folks steal others stuff.

So, are you saying that Freeway is trying to sell a stolen boat on his lot? This doesn't sound correct. Freeway is a Bankes dealer and is friends with Mike Bankes.

No the boat was stolen from the dealer before his buddy could get there to loo at it.
