I run a true "sneak" box...nobody ever sees me. 
Its true that lights are safer, but I'm usually running outside the channel and most times, I'm the first one out of the ramp. This year I'll run with running lights and interior lights on. Anyone who's doing over 15kts at o'dark thirty in a duck boat is a moron anyway. Even when I had my little speedboat sneakbox I ran half throttle or less in the dark. If you're going slower, and your eyes are properly adjusted to dark (30 mins), than you shouldn't hit anything or someone.
