I started the dodger on my BBSB the the other day with a friend with a sewing machine its a fun project not as hard as I thought it would be this is as far as we got I used aztek plastic to make the coming for the dodger it takes a great bend very easy to work with I did the frame got it all done and we got the first pannel done I will do more work on it next week and post more pics

to be honest I took most of what I did from Dave Diefenderfer and C Taylor check there posts very good info from both of there dodger builds

Yeah for sure it will be a few more weeks but when I am done I will for sure let you know and we will take them out

I don't Think so. I have no idea who built it its a weird sneak box I have been rebuilding it with Bill Simonson and he has no idea who built it take a look at my past post and you can see some good pics of it. It has a really big cock pit its 71X30 I thought that someone had mad the cock pit bigger but when Bill Simonson looked at it he said he didn't look like it was made bigger but that it was built that way. He said its the largest cock pit on a sneak box of this age he had seen wish I knew who the builder was if anyone has any ideas please let me know

Could it be a Howard Perrine sailing sneakbox, rigged for hunting??? We used to have a VERY large cockpit sneakbox that we raced off Island Heights yacht club (Toms River)...When your tacking one of those rascals you have to put your butt toward the bow while dodging the boom and coming about. great fun (aka wet) if you dont have the curved dagger board all the way down....If you shine a light under the forward deck is there a mast step???
 
No it never had a set up for sailing I bought the sneak box from the shourds family the grandson on henry shourds the decoy carver he couldn't remember who the builder was

I'm spying on this one as well. Found out one of my daughters' friends has knows how to sew marine canvas, and he has agreed to help me on a spray dodger project
 
I want to paint the canvas should I spray paint it or can I brush paint it the same parker marsh grass color as the sneakbox
 
I agree with Brian, brush it on after the straps are on, that is what I did. Mine is darker, so I lightened mine to match the hull. I plan to paint the inside this summer as mine is dark, and creates a hole in the marsh..... I have a shade lighter paint than the hull to try. Think the paint also stiffens/toughens the material.

Yeah I was thinking about the inside and it looking like a black hole. I was maybe thinking of leaving it the light color that it is. Do you think its to light and will stand out, or that the light tan will be good as is? The marsh I hunt is that goldish brown marsh grass of the south jersey salt marsh. It may be to light.
 
I would leave it light, not paint the inside. It will still be in the shadows so appear darker, and you and overhanging grassing will break up the light color and solid shape. Dave
