bbsb dodger

Well I am almost done with the dodger on my BBSB. I figured I would share a few pics even though I still have a little left to do. This was the first "test fit", not all the snaps are in and the grass loops are not finished but I figured I would share anyway. I was shooting for a "two stage" dodger. One that I could be under full cover for bad weather much like the "estuary" box. I also wanted the availability to be able to quickly change to a more traditional bbsb style dodger. As you can see in the pics, the aft area is where my dog resides. There are supports under a zippered area kinda like a taneau cover.

WOW!! That is awsome. I don't often feel outclassed in my tricked out TDB but I'm gonna have to hide around the corner of the marsh when we go out together. Very, very cool. I can't wait to see it with some mud and blood on it.

Thank You all for the nice compliments, this boat has truly become a labor of love. Now it is taylored to fit me and my style, what a diference. Other than a canoe this is the first boat I have owned. I know I could have never brought my own boat to this stage if it was not for what I have seen and learned from all of you here. I went out today for the opener of goose. I am not much of a goose hunter, I don't even have any goose decoys. But I have been so psyched to get this boat out on a hunt. I didn't shoot anything but I had a great morning with My daughter.

Gene Jr. , The only reason to hide that awesome TDB is so the ducks don't see it!

Gene,

The dodger and boat look first rate! Just curious as to what you used for bow material and attaching hardware? I'm done with my boats, but am always curious as to what others have used.

I do have my "pattern" left from the dodger, but it is real easy to make a custom pattern just to fit your boats frame. I used packing tape and a roll of 12" wide paper that I picked up at Harbor Freight to create a pattern. Basically I constructed a dodger out of paper over my frame. Once I had a full paper dodger I carefully removed it and then cut it into pieces that could be laid flat for a pattern. Since it is not a true pattern you have to add for seams and such. I will check in my files to see if I have any pics from this stage and post them. Good Luck!

I used poly coated denier 1000 with a #69 bonded polyester thread. The snaps are solid brass marine snaps with SS studs and the weebbing is tubular nylon. I too am always curious what others use. One never knows when another project may come around.
