BBSB ID

Dan~

I do not recognize it, but....

Is it plywood? There are a few plans for such vessels around, including Zack Taylor's Successful Waterfowling.

The short cockpit is notable, too.

All the best,

Doesn?t look quite right for a Zack Taylor. The sheer sides don?t look high enough. I built and still hunt out of a Zack Taylor Wigeon. It looks like it was built from another set of plans I?ve seen. I think they were originally published in Field & Stream and was a sheer sided strip built bbsb

I believe you're thinking of Harry Megargee's plans, I built a few boats based on those. I wonder the same thing, but without a full profile view I can't be sure.

It could be the "Scaup" designed by Harry Megargee that was published in F&S. My son and I recently took ownership of one (thanks to Tom Bidrowski) with plans to restore it. The boat pictured above does resemble it.

Dan,

We talked about your boat on FB the other day. This is were I was going to post your pictures.Anyway glad you found this site. If anyone can ID your boat it will most likely be someone from here. Here are the boat plans I told you I had. Your boat is different than these as yours has a rub rail and different construction. You might want to post those pictures of the inside you posted on FB. Also maybe the stern and motor board if you have one.

Good morning, Gents~

Here is Zack Taylor's introduction to the WIGEON in Successful Waterfowling. Note that Harry Megargee designed it - and many other gunning vessels. I believe I recall the original story in Sports Afield.

In any event, Eric's "new" boat is a thing of beauty. I look forward to Jay's and all of the Sneakbox restorations here in 2020.

Your second set of plans are what I was thinking about.

Looks like my boat. I always thought it was a derivative of a ZT Widgeon, but maybe not. It was framed out by a gentleman by the name of Bob Brown near Clayton, NY. He built these as "unfinished" boats and sold them in raw cedar. Mine has an after hatch, my cousin bought one without. Here is mine in its first paint and one of Bob's other boats for sale at the Clayton Decoy Show, many years ago.
