Be careful of the company you keep

When I had a run with the high school principal the only thing my dad said to me was "be careful of the company you keep ". That was fifty years ago. I thought I had learned my lesson. Then I found this forum several years ago. Got rid of my aluminum Jon boat and started building a BBSS. Next thing you know l'm giving away my plastic decoys and carving cork bodies with wooden heads. Still use my canvas waders with "woolies" to keep warm. My son laughs at my brown mackinaw hunting jacket. The past month I realized I fallen in with a bad influence when I read the thread on double guns and started searching on - as my wife calls them - the forbidden web sites for a Super Fox. I knew I was in deep trouble when I asked a seller if I could use my Health Savings Account debit card. I was shocked that he could not see this purchase would have medicinal value for state of mind. Am I too far gone. Is there any turning back. Can anyone recommend a twelve step program. I wish my dad was still hear to give more words of wisdom.

so far -- i don't see anything wrong here except you haven't posted pictures of the Super Fox -

there are several in my shooting circle - I keep watching for a shooter condition one

Yupp..once u killed a bunch and its not the same anymore it becomes HOW u get em'..not HOW MANY..
Sorry there is no cure..LOL!

You have now reached the epitome/zen state of a well seasoned, wise hunter and conservationist. Consider yourself Blessed, some very good things come with age and experience. Now your job is to pass on all your knowledge to those that need it and seek it.

Welcome brother. Ain't Life Grand.

Rick l haven't gotten "my" Super Fox yet because the only funds available were in my HSA. Wife won't let me have a credit card. Says I am an accident waiting to happen.

Bruce the only 12 step program I know of was renamed years ago. It's not called the 12 gauge program. Welcome to our world.

yeah- one of these days i will find the one I want - not a collector piece condition wise, and the right dimensions, a friend fell into one this summer that was a good deal - so it can happen

until then the 3 frame Parker or the LC Smith Long Range will console me

or one of the short tens (deadly set up)

as stated - no cure - and the treatment is not cheap

I too would love a Becker Super Fox till then I shoot an Ithaca NID 10 Magnum, at least as rare and classic.
I prefer to hand load short 2 7/8 bismuth food for it.
Arthur Armstrong Broadbill for transport.

I do love goretex and neoprene though, oh and outboard motors, love motors...

This web site has been hard on me also. It started with a need for better looking decoys, so I started carving my own. The better looking part came after several years of carving as my first attempts were not much to look at. Then came building a Devlin Snow Goose with Cheech Kehoe. That was launched a couple of weeks after 9-11. Then a couple of years ago I found a Rem 1894 10 ga that I had to have...now I am all in for loading short 10's with ITX shot and roll crimps. I think next I am going to build one or more wooden ammo boxes patterned after ones I saw at the LI decoy show that Steve Sanford put on this year.
Yep, its a sickness and I am deep into it...
John
