Great video and thank you but, I know how to pattern a gun. I was hoping someone had first hand experience with particular brands of choke tubes (so I didn't have to experiment and buy) using the Hevi-metal in that particular shotgun I mentioned. I've heard great things about Kicks and Pattern Master. At around $100 a pop, I can't justify buying chokes "just to see" how well they work.
 
Look at Carlson extended sporting clays chokes. If you want a tight choke buy their improved modified
 
The choke that I use in my A400 is the Briley Light Mod. works like a dream and I use it with all of my steel shot from BB to #3 shot. I just ordered another A400 in 20 gauge and I will also put this same choke tube on this gun.

Do you typically purchase aftermarket tubes for your guns?

I've purchased many for turkey over the years. None of them ever out performed the turkey full that came with the gun. Bass pro and Cabelas have pretty good return policies, So I was able to return to them.
 
Yes, I've had the best results with aftermarket extended tubes. That's good to know about their return policies, thanks!
 
I bought my Browning Maxus in Sept of 2010. I also bought a patternmaster long range choke tube for it. My mistake before even patterning the gun out first. I found out that for Sept goose season when i am using Hevi shot 3.5'' #2 the patternmaster helps a lot. As far as duck season goes i just go with 3'' Kent 3 or 4 shot (depending on if i am going for teal or bigger ducks) and my modified choke that my gun came with works better. I know completely different loads, its just more affordable that way. I havent actually patterned both tubes side by side with using the same shot, but just something i observed in the field. I started missing ducks a lot more with the patternmaster than when i had the modified in.. Maybe i will head to quinton sportsmans club and do a comparison. I also bought a carlson turkey tube for my Maxus and i shoot Hevi shot 3.5 # 5's i think. That works great and was a fraction of the price. There are a ton to choose from. Good luck with the chokes and good luck with the upcoming season.
 
I have patterned turkey load extensively and the aftermarket chokes did not perform any better than then the SF that came with the gun. (For me)

Didn't feel like starting all over with waterfowl loads, I just found which loads worked best with my gun and luckily was able to find them quickly. I do my best shooting through a modified choke, lead or steel. I've never seen anyone miss a duck by shooting too far in front of it....
