Better re-pack for winter

Leave for Hudson Bay tomorrow for one last crack at the snows. Just checked the weather forecast and it looks like it is going to be pretty brutal for the trip. Average temps in the low teens and 25 mph north winds.... Also, no electricity, running water or heat!

Hopefully, I can still find some of those heat packets around somewhere today.

We had a great spring season here in Missouri and the weather was a little more enjoyable. If you want to see some pics on our blog from the spring, look here.

I will give a report when I get back!

I convinced myself back in Feb. that I would make it to October without getting the itch for a hunt.

Now I'm jealous and itching like crazy!

Have a great hunt.

Just for making your post, I hope you find all the heat packets you need. Course i'm also hoping they are outdated and fail to work as intended. hehe Now that you have drawn the knife out, do you need a pound of salt to rub into our wounds also?

PS. Have a good time, no really, have a good time.

Shoot those white birds!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the chance to go to Manitoba this past fall and hunted snows over decoys; white birds that actually decoyed!!!! It was one of the most unique waterfowling trips I've done.

It was a great trip. The outfitter I used does a spring season, and they did extremely well this year, and he kept me posted (texts while I was at work...)

I've never hunted the birds in the spring, but someday I want to. Good luck and keep us posted!!!!!! Oh, and post some damn pictures when you get back!!

Safe travel,
Steve

Dave, no luck on the heat packets in May in Missouri.... Need to bring more antifreeze!

You guys take care of the crappie and turkeys for me and I will tell Santa HI for ya.....

Good luck man...watch out for hungry Polar Bears. Now that I've hunted them a few times I see how they get under your skin pretty quick. One day I will definitely get up to Hudson Bay. How many times have you been Ira?

I was out in South Dakota for a few days back in mid-March with a crew of buddies and we did okay. Considering we were the only guys for 60 miles in every direction even working birds I was proud. We learned lots and figured out that even with a hodgpodge of 1100 decoys we were better off with 300 of the same kind. The week before we left I got a hot tip on a small flock hanging out just outside of town here and the next morning I set up 45 T&Ts I borrowed and killed 6 birds in 4 shots...which is more than I killed for the entire SD trip personally!
