better than spinning wing decoys

i have only been hunting my hand carved decoys when i take my sneakbox out, but unfortunaly eveytime i do that i never see anything. but i finnally cut the cord and let other people have the chance to gun over them too. well they finnaly brought some birds in and it was pretty cool knowing that the many hours of carving, sanding, painting was worth it. im planning to make a good sized homemade rig for next year.

Thank you Pete for letting me come up all those days and showing me the art of making decoys. you have been a great teacher. but now i really have the bug(good thing christmas is soon)

That Pete makes one heck of a nice black duck decoy. Congratulations on your success and new appreciation for corkers.

Chris,

You know you've got the bug bad when you start taking reference pics of duck bills, hahahaha! Nice work and enjoy the satisfaction of gunning your own decoys. I know I do.

Chris, I'm glad you took that picture of the two beaks. You will see that more and more as time goes by. I sure like those decoys you have made.
By the way, down here spinning wing decoys frighten more birds away than they bring in. Sandhill cranes will flare a quarter mile away when they see one. Same with light geese. I found it very interesting.

Chris, I always look forward to you guys coming over and its pleasure showing you how I carve decoys. One of these days we will get out and hunt. Also Carol wants to have you guys for supper when I get back.

thanks for the compliments, just wait to see whats next. I might have a deke or two going to westlake.

actually i have more projects than finished decoys but it keeps me busy. i like carving, painting (especially oils) and it is a great way to keep the brain on ducks. i can feel myself understanding the techniques better and I'm always looking foward to the next bird.

Pete it sounds like a plan. Hopefully you will have some great stories about your trip. good luck and have fun

Nice work Chris. It is a lot more satisfying shooting birds over your own rig. I have yet to graduate from foamers but one of these years Ill make the switch.
