Black-chinned hummingbirds

By the way, the female is a bit larger than the male. I sat next to our orange trumpet vine this morning before sunrise and did, in time, see quite a few of these little guys. It was a wait very worth while.

I have counted up to 4 1/2 seconds that a hummer spent inside one of these flower licking nectar. That is a long time in the hummingbird world.

When there are no ducks hummers will suffice. The perched one looking over her shoulder is special.

awesome photos Al. We've got some type of plant that grows along the side of our property that has little orange bell shaped flowers and the hummingbirds love them! Very cool to see them buzzing around.
