Blackjack and Mud Motor

Previous owner of my Blackjjack had used a longtail MM on it prior to my purchaseing it. He had a transome extender bracket made up that would allow motor to swing around and set in boat during trailering. This bracket also allowed the use of a long shaft outboard to be used if desired. I removed this when I purchased as I intended to use shortshaft 15 on boat. I can tell you that i had to repair some abraited areas on bottom of hull caused by hull contact in marsh from that mudmotor use. Not really sure that glass hull would be good choice for the places a mudmotor could take you. Still have bracket though if your interested.

Issues with smaller motors is they can always be in drive so get one with clutch that allows for neutral.

I am a real believer in mud hulls for mud motors. The reasons I run a mud motor are the same reasons I don't want a fiberglass hull or riveted aluminum.

Fortunately if you stand toward midship and use a tiller extension those Blackjacks will putt along thru some pertty shallow water with motor kicked up. Break out the push pole after that!
