Blast and cast.

Well that looks like a productive day in the outdoors. Glad you had success. I spent my weekend maintaining equipment and didn't complete one repair job due to broken item parts not available locally. I should have gone fishing and hunting too.

Nice day. I love cast and blasts. Wish we had a teal season here. That is one fat ol' Mr. Whiskers you got there.

Grilled teal and fried fish, hard to beat that.

Is that a pickerel or a small pike?

Small northern pike. Until last fall I was never aware they were in Ohio. They are in Lake Erie usually up north in Canadian waters. But they do run some of the creeks to spawn. Now I know they are here, have to chase them.

The cats were biting well that afternoon. 7 of that size in little over an hour. Had to start using just one rod instead of two. I had two on at one time. Was interesting getting them in by myself.

I was in Ohio on a business trip about a month ago and was driving from Cleveland to Detroit and had a few hours to kill before my next appointment, so I took the lakeside route instead of the turnpike. Saw a sign for a launch ramp around Port Clinton, the road would through a big marsh, and I met and talked to a couple of people that were coming in from perch fishing. They told me there were lots of pike in that backwater area and they often fished for those also. After that, I stopped and had some perch at a local joint, which is the other reason I take that drive when I'm out that way.

That's the water the creek I fish empties into. They run up the creeks in the fall and right after ice out.
