To you my fowl brethren I offer this tiny prayer, for on the morrow...it comes.

Lo there do I see my shovel.

Lo there do I see my gennie, and my blower and my salt.

Lo there do I see the line of my driveway, back to the garage.

LO they do call to me, they bid me take my place among them.

In the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may watch ESPN FOREVER !!!

Time to suck it up boys

Well, with the accuracy the 'weather guessers' have had so far this winter, I been laughing for a week at the buzz of the impending "blizzard". We'll see if they get it right or not by morning...like I've been saying the last couple of days, 'even a broken watch is right twice a day'

I'm tending to side with you Charles. Much to do about a regular old winter snow. The snow day buzz amongst the youngsters around here may be a let down for the AM.

Brian - I'm guessing all that means, throw on a pot of chili, a log on the fire and make some wood chips???? Of course, the way some of us "process" chili, we better watch how many logs we throw on the fire... :)

I don't know how much snow you'll get but I can assure you that the cold and wind is real coming in behind it.
It seems like our weather guessers are right every time they predict snow and cold but wrong every time it is suppose to warm up. If they could get that turned around I'd be happy with them being wrong.

To check the weather....turn off the idiot box...Stick head out window..., testing, testing...darn it is cold...and wet...ice..snow...and nasty...no guessing...and tomorrow shall bring what may and another head out the window...

Seems that method is 100% correct at the position of the window...

Best Wishes to the frozen mid-west inhabitants...

Exactly, Pat.... only I might be slinging some paint instead of making chips. I'm thinking it will be my famous "White-bean, chicken chili" - with a big dollop of sour cream mixed in before serving.

We're on the southern edge of the front here - a big, fat glaze of ice over everything right now. Looking at the news, I see some areas of the country are getting blasted pretty good - with more on the way.

The chicken chili sounds awesome Bob! We're getting pounded here. 45-50 mph winds and about a foot and a half of snow. This is where my utmost admiration goes to Canada Geese. Those rascals stay out in this stuff 24x7. They are one tough bird! Have you ever done a goose?

I look forward to seeing what your painting... God bless you and your family. Pat

we got 4+" last night.. but only suppose to get another 10.3" 37 mph sustained winds... gusting to 50....

Had to drive through 2' drifts on the way to work... 2'+ drifts on the way home.

I'd say they hit the mark with our forecast. I-70 is closed from St.Louis to Kansas City. When I came home from work at 6pm tonight it was a solid knee deep. Truck pushed snow down the street, not sure if 3/4 ton 4x4 is going anywhere for a couple days. Pot of chili has been made the fridge is stocked. Everyone inside watching it snow.

Tomorrow our annual total will likely exceed 75 inches as we are at about 68 with today's drop. I am trying to talk myself out of shoveling the roof but it is not going well !

Perhaps tomorrow will be missed... the drifts on the gravel... were over 2' deep and about 20 yards long... in several spots.. with the wind and the additional 10"... I don't think it was "safe" to go in tomorrow.

weooooooo wee man ya got sum right fine white stuff there wow!!

hunker down ,,stay warm and happy

sherm...

Phil,

I hear you, the main roads wern't bad this morning but the gravel roads could be a whole different story. I had both barfe spots and 3 foot drifts just around my truck and garage in town today.

Enjoy your day off,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, all day long on your blower/plow! hehe ):> ):>

That is one of Bev's favorite meals to cook, Bob. We buy the green chili from a local farmer, have it roasted and I peel it at home before we bag it and put it in the freezer. Normally we consume around 40 pounds of green chili a year.
It is really quiet around here. The state highway patrol has closed down I-25 from Socorro all the way to Truth or Consequences. We have at least 8 inches of snow on the ground. I can tell you that when we walked the 6 dogs last evening they all went nuts playing in the stuff. It was fun to watch.

I will take some pics today. It would be nice to get down to Bosque del Apache but if I drive down the hill with my truck, I won't be able to get back up. We have never seen this much snow down here. Lived here since 97.

We were talking about this spring and when all of that white stuff melts. Some areas of North America are in for some serious floods.

Dang! The weather guessers were right! 15" over night. Thankfully I don't have a TV, so I don't have to watch all the "Weather Team" self promotions that will be playing for the next month about how great they "predicted" this one. What about the last 3 "Blizzards" this winter that parted around Grand Rapids like Moses parting the Red Sea!

I made it to work...by the grace of God! Not going to attempt to go home tonight if our road at the house isn't plowed.

Chuck

AND it's still coming down.......I have to clear a path to the shop so that I can get started on my WestLake birds. Crank up the Eagles and let the snow fly.

View from Ballards carving spot. It'll take more than a Bloody Mary to keep you warm today.
