I rehabed my 20+ year old Blacks using Steve's paint scheme. Thanks for the inspiration. Now on to the mallards, bluebills, cans, and redheads.

No I bought these over 20 years ago. 6 are from Coot Decoy company and one is a balsa bird but I can't recall the maker. I do wish I could learn your technique of painting fine lines on the heads. I tried numerous brushes just can't seem to get the hang of it. But like you mentioned half a gun shot away they should work.

re the fine steaks: I use a #4 or #6 round brush and thin the paint with water to get the right flow. Your approach is very nice and gives lots of depth.

BTW I believe the Coot Decoy heads were carved on a replicator due to their exact uniformity and the tool marks. I can't recall the details of the company but I believe they were only in business a short time.
