If you don't mind, I'll keep an eye on Gus for the future. Rosie (out of Eric's Cassie) just got her seasoned title this past fall. We plan to hunt the fire out of her this winter and get her finished title next year (we'll see). After she gets her HRCH and maybe a MH and passes all health clearances (ofa hips, elbows, eyes, heart, thyroid), then I'll look at a breeding. My trainer runs dogs at the Grand, so I'll stay open minded, but we'll see what she can do.

Craig - don't have any pics of Tazz at work, but this is just after he dove after a trout I released on the Little Red River here in AR. Almost got it too!
 
Keep trying TGentry, it took me a year to figure out posting pics and I'm college educated, maybe that was the problem?

As I told Craig in a PM, there is a renaissance in field Golden breeding going on right now. I think there are more fine, working Goldens come out of various programs all across the country than any time since they were first recognized as a great hunting dog early last century, these are not bandana Goldens. There are definitely two different breeds between show Goldens and working Goldens, unfortunately a lot of those show dog owners try to run hunt test and give the breed a bad name, the field bred Goldens are every bit as good a lab or Chessie in the duck marsh, and on average, probably a bit better in the upland if you don't mind brushing burrs out of their coats at the end of the day. A small price to pay I say.

I love Goldens, but I'll be the first to admit, a good dog is a good dog regardless of breed. I train with all three, the sport I run is dominated by black Labs in numbers entered, but when you get to the elite breedings, they are equal working dogs with small differences in temperment and looks. I just like Goldens best.

Wow, I didn't realize there were that many guys out there hunting goldens. I'm on my second field golden, and as long as you do you homework and stay away from the show/pet dogs, they are deffinately every bit as good as a lab. This is my current golden. Luke is two and doing absolutely wonderful. We ran NAHRA intermediate this year and are planning on senior this summer and maybe a trip to the RAW invitational. He is out of FC AFC Steeple Hill Ranger and Kiowa's Solo. I would like to breed him at some point, but was hopeing to put a MHR title on him first. He is listed on K9data. His registered name is Kiowa's Chief Medicine Man.

I've trained with Ranger many-many times, he is a wonderful dog with more drive than any I have ever seen. Judy Rassmussen who owns Ranger has three other titled Goldens and one titled Lab, she runs at a very high level. It's funny, we were on the list for a Ranger x Paws pup, but it never took so Jackie ended up breeding to Bro instead, that's our Gus pup. Since then she has repeated the Bro x Paws breeding and also bred Paws to Judy's Beau, another FC AFC Golden.
