Boat Heaters

Im trying to figure out how to put a little heater in my boat since it gets a little cold in Iowa. I ve got a single radiant burner from Mr Heater that will put out enough heat. My question is how do I keep from burning my boat?? I stuck it in there to see how it worked but after a few minutes I smelled hot wood. Is there anything that I can line the inside around the heater with? I thought about using some kind of insulation with the silver backing to try and reflect the heat. Any other ideas??

Are you wanting to cook off of it as well? Try the Mr.Buddy heater.you might like that a little better, but you can not cook off the Mr Buddy, Both have the pros, and cons, hope this helps Brian Rippelmeyer

Ditto on the Mr. Buddy Heater great product. Uses the small propane bottles, does a great job inthe blind.

I have a Buddy heater, but I don't think that it will stay lit in the wind. The regular Mr. Heater will. I have used my Mr. Heater in my fiberglass boat the last two weekends and it has worked great! I have mine mounted on my grill tank and set it in the middle of the boat. That is ok for now, but I want to mount it permanently and use a remote hose/tank to run it. I am thinking about getting some sheet metal as a heat shield and mounting it to the side of the boat.

I just love eye-balling those biscuits and pie. Makes me drool like my dog waiting for a bone.

Larry,

Huntindave, Dave Shady and I can can vouch for Hitch's cooking abilities and just how much better breakfast tastes in a duck boat!....;-)

Take care,

I have a heater like this which will fit nicely. The probelm I have is when I slide it back under the boat top which is wood and fiberglass the heat is rising and Im afraid that it will catch fire. I was wondering if there was something to reflect the heat and insulate the wood.
