Boat Paint

I am contemplating on using Parkers boat paint. I was looking for feedback if anyone has used it recently. I used it 20 years ago on my BBSB. I recently purchased another which is all fiberglas. It currently has FME paint on it. I like the marsh grass paint color that Parker offers. I have not seen another manufacturer make this color. Thanks for your input on this.

IMHO you already have the best paint on the boat with the FME. Nothing wrong with Parker Paint but I believe that FME is so much better. If you're stuck on Parker Paint, fine, but if the color of the FME is the only thing bothering you, contact Lou Tisch at Lock Stock & Barrel and see if he has another color you like.

I pretty sure Lou will match any color you want, I think there is a 1 gallon minimum for custom colors.

I've used Parker and am satisfied with the results. I thinned it a bit and sprayed it on. From what I hear though, the FME is the way to go. Pettit is supposed to be good as well.

Just received my gallon of fme earlier this week from Lou. I have not used it yet but I can tell you that he was a pleasure to deal with. He responded to email quickly and it just took a phone call to finalize. I received the order within 2 days of the shipping. I highly recommend the fme from Lou Tisch.

Absolutely go with the FME from Lou Tisch at Lock, Stock and Barrel. I painted my fiberglass duckboat with FME, then did a camo pattern over it with some Parkers spray paint. The FME has not chipped once, even on the underside where it hits bottom and my trailer bunks. The camo patter I sprayed with my parkers has chipped in certain places. Bottom line, you get what you pay for and FME is the best hands down....

I too used #28 Dead Grass Green. I had Lou send me a pint of the Dead Grass Green, and the Dead Grass Brown, and was torn, but decided on the Green, and am happy. The brown might have matched the mud on the tidal flats, but the green is the more traditional BBSB color.

Not sure yet what i will use for the Susquehanna. This has several colors on it over the years! I am contemplating an open water gray, to use as the traditional roll method. Right now the hull is duckboat green, with a silver bottom paint, which is a different consistancy and does not burn off the same.

Ditto on FME. Painted FME on my Southbay project. Chris helped me with the camo and it turned out excellent. Used parker on floor boards and it rubs off. Will be ordering more FME for the bottom and inside to finish the restoration. Have not tried Pettit, think FME is the way to go...

Tom,
Sounds like the color you'd need is #28. I can email you pictures of several boats I've painted in that color, just let me know your email addy and I'll email them. We can also match any color you'd like, merely need a sample to match. There are some color samples/comparisons in the downloadable catalog on the website: www.lockstockbarrell.com I can also put a couple color swatches on a Bristol board and mail to you. Let me know how I can be of service.
Lou
p.s. Thanks guys for the support and kudos. Much appreciated. ;)
