Boats, Ice and weather

ah joe a little frozen this and that is not to bad...i wish i could find the pics to scan of us hunting in the big ice pans 5 and 6 ft thick on a warm day when the tide cleared the main channel for us to hunt...put the whites on and lay on and in the ice cakes....got 2 mergs that day...and my buddy had a stroke out there ,tho we didnt know it then until 2 days later ...hes recovered now ...his last duck hunt im affraid they found a prob with his heart it just sits there and jiggles without pumping hes gone thru a few opperations he is coming around tho so there hope for more hunts..

Shermie, hope your hunting buddy is able to get well enough to get back in the hunt next year.Good hunting parteners are precious, and too few.I whish I had one close.I have bird hunted with ice and snow, but not waterfowling.Dyed in the wool ,I am not.Wouldn't mind on occasion but only with a couple more guns along.

thanks Joe if ya lived closer youd be getting the nite before call wanta go wet sum dekes...YOu are so right its hard to find like minded fellas that can put up with each for hours on end and even when things are not going right you are still ready to go next time, its one of them you gotta be there things,me and my same ol buds went tot he shore to hunt and it turned out to be a sunny ice cold day in minus 15 C windchills in white caps and a mild gail blowing ,we flipped the canoe up to break the wind ,after a bit we broke out lunch ,we are eating having our tea it cold enought o frost and ice up our beards i look to him after a realy big wave came ashore with a big gust of wind and says to him" hell of a day for the beach eh?" well sweet jesus we laughed so hard me tears were freezing on my whiskers,so when ever i call him in duck season i say gonna be a nice day for the beach tomorow,,,lol i still get a chuckle out of it..

Thanks Joe i feel better all ready as we had lots of laughs and im running thru them now...

Ah,yes. The memories.Thoes are presious.I can picture the sceen of the wind blown spray, freezing on your beard.Brings a chuckle to me just thinking about it.Best reason I know to grow one.I'll bet, that day the duck found refuge somewhere else.I enjoyed your wild tale of the J24 race you crewed and nearly lost it at the finish line.(Both ways). That will stay with you till your dying days.Memeroies are great, because the older we get the better they get.Always take out the bad and embelish the good. And a top of the morning to ya.You get the sunrise first among this crowd, and an hour ahead.Do you go on DST there?I never heard. If not ,we in the easteren time zone have caught up with ya.

thanks joe,yup were one hour ahead of shedule racing for oct 1st duck opener...well its a thought anyway...

Dan you can surely turn a phrase.

First time ever heard of the missus being called "Minister of Domestic Affairs"

What a major hoot !

best,
Harry

Thanks Harry, but I have to admit that I borrowed that from a friend.

We just have to worry when the M.o D.A also wants to be "minister of the navy" and mothballs the fleet!

Dan
