Boys are home...

Judging by the amount of sawdust/corkdust on that bike, it hasn't been used in a while!

Are your birds tied directly to the mother lines or how do you attach them? It's hard to tell from the pic but do they all have a split ring on the end of the drop?

pat what type of sealer do you use to keep your rig from getting beat up? i used a flat krylon uv resistant clear and thought it had a bit of shine to it.

Pat my birds went up on the hooks about two weeks ago. There will be more added soon when they dry. A rule at my house is once it goes outside it doesn't make it back in. Proud to say your hen redhead performed well this year and was gunned over Missouri wetlands. Birds were shot over her, dog even drug her once and she ended up a little muddy by years end

RC - Early on I attached droplines directly to the decoys themselves but, I am getting away from it. Too many tangles. On my longlines, there are 2 foot droppers attached directly to the line. I now attach an O ring directly to the keel of the decoy snapping the dropper directly to it. Works great, less tangles.

Sean - Straight paint, no sealer on the decoy...

Al - You are correct, and, I truly enjoy my hens. I have some older than some of the members on this forum.

Tom - Good news on the redhead. Glad you got it out. Sadly, it's littermates sat on the shelves and didn't make it out this season. Next year...

Pat,
Glad to see them all hanging. How many repairs you have this year? My entire bufflehead rig needs some TLC. They are by far my oldest decoys in the rig.

Brandon - I was working on some goldeneyes this morning. Needed to putty up some neck filler that worked loose on some 2009 goldies. After season, I wipe them all down with some water to get the mud off. Do any structural repairs necessary the, wipe them down with a light bath of Finish Feeder to put some luster back in the paint. The mud we have down here on the Illinois sucks all the luster out of the paint. Finish Feeder restores it. Great product for gunning decoy, even plastics. I highly recommend it. Google it. You'll find it...

Good to hear from you. I appreciate you gunning your decoys. Take care and God bless! Pat
