Anybody try a CMC breakaway motor mount. I saw them at Cabelas for over $300.
We hit alot of stuff in the ole Miss. I was wondering if it really could save
my transom and my 50hp..

I never run my motor locked. I always allow it to kick up if I hit something. It will scare the begebees out of you but usually no damage.

I have one as does my buddy down in SC. If you're running a large motor that has power trim/tilt, they will certainly save your lower unit. I have hit countless sandbars, oyster beds, and logs with it and no damage to my 40hp motor. Another benefit is that it gets the motor further off the back of the boat which allows you to raise it a bit. I noticed some improvement on my top end speed and hole shot as well.

Conan, Actually depending on what motor the T&T unit should have a valve that will allow the motor to hit something and bounce over. Not like leaving a manual unlocked but they will bounce over the REALLY BAD hits. What motor do you have. The good point is made for a setback but I never have used a breakaway.

1996 Yamaha 50hp 4 stroke.
It runs great but it does take a beatin.
Alotta stumps in the Mississippi and
I find em all.
