Broadbill Pic ?

Brian,

Season has been a little slow, but been going ok.

I use the oars infrequently, but I always take a set out in either the Broadbill or BB2. Most of the time I paddle (sitting on the nose of the boat) or drag if the water is to shallow for the engine. Guess they are security in case the engine dies, and they make great decoy racks for the Broadbill

Marmaduke is actually my truck in the pick if you click on the link in my sig.

I would have to measure to be sure as it was a while ago, but I added about a foot in length and two inches to the sides and stretched the cockpit about 8" to the front. I really like it and it gives me that little bit extra with the dog.

I wasn't able to see how it ran with the 15hp because as it was stated before, my johnson was broken. It ran OK loaded with a 9.9 merc but would not plane.

Thank you guys for all your help . I have had a sense that i have missed for a couple months . I dont have a project in the Garage this winter and i cant stand it . I think it is an infection like Duck Hunting . Thank you for showing me the way and keep the pics comeing. It helps that the boats you have posted are of such high guality that i paste them and show my soon to be wife and she is excited for me to get started now !

all this talk about the broadbill has got me wondering (and i'm sure it's been covered many many times) why the broadbill and not the bluebill? i now have the bluebill plans and am wondering if the smaller boat would be better.

i'll hang up and listen

For me i hunt with alot of people and take alot of kids out for there first hunt and the hunts where i can get out alone are special and my time and what a better way then a home built one . I have a 18 ft 12ft hunting kayaks a pirouge and a 2 man and 1 man layout so a one man motor boat easy to hide and its kinda funny but i think of my granfather when i look at one . He used to build raceing hydros i did not get into building until he passed and the shape of it reminds me a little of him i think he would be right there with me in the shop putting saw dust in the air !

bill... not sure if you were replying to me or not, but what i was getting at was..

why build the broadbill instead of the 2' bigger bluebill?

Jeff

I really like the Bluebill also but i'm thinking it might be to hard for my first build of a motor boat . That is tough for me to decide i dont want to start one that i cant finish our do a good job on. Have you built one ?

nope.. haven't built one... but i'm pretty sure the broadbill and the bluebill are the same plans and boat, but with different sizes... and maybe the bluebill has the motor well. same skill level for sure (unless i'm missing something)

I have the plans for the bluebill and just can't decide if i want a boat on a trailer (bluebill/broadbill) or a momarsh i can put in a truck.
