Browning Citori Value

Eric, I think the Invector + are back bored barrels. My Gold Hunter has the +, my 28 BPS has Standard. Are you set on an O/U? Look at some SKB's, I personally like them better than the other brands but that's because they fit me...I can't hit shit with a Citori. I think I will sell my Gold and a old 1100 mag that is in perfect shape....these 28's are just too much fun.

My friend and I are both big guys. I am 6'3" and he's 6'5".
The Brownings fit us perfectly.
Like I said before, I use my 3 1/2" BPS for Geese and Turkey.
If I only had a 3" gun, I wouldn't necessarily feel under gunned though.
The 3 1/2" version gives you more pellet count in the larger shot sizes, that is the big plus to having it.
A guy could compensate by buying Bismuth, Heavyshot, or a Tungsten Polymer load, just for the Geese.
Unless you shoot lots and lots of geese, that really isn't THAT expensive given the big picture.
I use 3", 1 1/8 oz. #3 shot steel loads @ 1550 over decoys for ducks and I use #1 or BB for pass shooting.
Geese I like BBB in 1 1/2" oz. @ 1550 fps. with a 3 1/2" shell. I could probably get the same killing force using a #2 Heavyshot or Tungsten Polymer shot out of my 3" gun.
I am not trying to dissuade you from buying a 3 1/2" Citori, I am just telling you that my friend has one and he is a big buy and he even feels that the gun is a little bulky and awkward for an upland gun and so do I. If you are only wanting to use it for waterfowl, then it is probably a nicely proportioned gun. It should give you a good follow through with the up front mass. It just isn't quick pointing like I think an O/U should be.

Eric,

Like Lee said the barrels that use Invector Plus are back bored, the Plus tubes are about twice as long as the standard Invector. Supposed to make the gun shoot softer and pattern better. I can't say that I've really noticed a difference in the way either system shoots, main thing to me is the Invector Plus tubes are a bit more common so if one gets lost or damaged they're easier to replace. There is a wider selection of constrictions available also. If you open the gun and look on the left side above the latch it should be stamped with barrel length and above that it should be stamped with which choke system it has.

Like Lee said, decide what you're willing to pay and wave some hundreds around in front of him. Amazing how greenbacks can make some guys deal.

I was in a store last night and they had a new Citori 3.5" Satin hunter for $1199.99. Anyone looking for one I can tell you where the store is in N. IL. I have no use for the 3.5". They kill on one end and wound on the other.

Thanks again to all that provided input. I ended up buying a Benelli M1 instead of the Citori. I do think Citori will be my next purchase but the Benelli was the right choice for me now. In fact this particular Benelli has made the rounds a bit here on the forum, Gregg Kurz, Brian Story, and now me. I plan on keeping it for the long haul until I feel the need to wrap it around a tree like my Franchi, as Harker put it :)
