I need to buy some new brushes for oil painting decoys.
Been buying at Michael's but they don't last
What are some of your recommendations for make and shapes?
Thanks
Pat

I pretty much paint all my Decoys with three brushes. A 1 inch Filbert, a half inch angle shader, and a number two liner. They should get you into all the areas and allow you to do plenty of detail.

As far as make, Sharff is good. But more often than wearing out comes from not getting the brush clean enough, and paint drying up in the heel. I do a quick clean with turps, and then soak the brush in transmission fluid. Wipe off the excess and your set until next time you paint

3 brushes and a qt of atf. I'm definitely impressed. Now That's keeping it simple.
Now I just need 20 years of experience and 1000's of decoys made.
Thanks for the input

I'm a simple guy. I have lots more brushes but pretty much those three are the go to. Glad to help.
