Bud Miles BBSB

I have a Bud Miles bbsb.... I was willed this badboy and love it...... I have the original flyer that came with it. Does anyone know the history of Bud Miles like when he started and finshed... Seems like they dont exist anymore.

At one time I owned Five of Bud's boats..at on time.....down to two and it makes me feel "Miles Boat nekid haven't talked to Bud in a couple of years but he had pretty much stopped building the last time I talked to him.....I saw his boats the first time in 1995 at the Tuckerton Show and bought my first on in 2000....picked it up from Bud and did a Duck Boat Page Brant Hunt in New Jersey with it before bringing it out here....not many Barnegats on the West Coast and most of the few that are are fiberglass so a cedar boat was always an attention grabber.....

So can't tell you when first and last was but they were great boat and there are several other people on the site, not all active anymore, that have his boats......

You'll love it....

Steve

Cape May....the place in New Jersey that educated this Southern Boy that N.J. was all Perth Amboy like he thought........spent a lot of time there in the 90's.....

I run a 15hp 2 stroke Johnson on it.....more motor than needed but it works well on "other" boats and where a 10 wouldn't have......

Do you know what hull number yours is?....

Steve

given hull design and limitations I'd be there isn't enough difference in performance to worry about or to warrant the swap.....these boats weren't intended to be Higbee hydroplanes and "more power" doesn't make them that....

Steve

Never put a GPS on mine.......what passes for planning on that hull style varies load to load and I only very rarely used it for really long runs.....most times I was towing a decoy sled and dealing with a swell or heavy chop so the advantages of the hull as a heavy water performer was far more important than speed.........

I was always loaded down with Fat Men and Iron, and a dog, cork decoys, and too much "stuff", and thinking about it now in all the years I've had them and run them I don't think I ever ran one of them "empty".....no doubt a much quicker and more nimble boat in that load out....

Steve

I have ran my Miles boat with a 15hp two stroke a couple time with nothing more than myself, a gas can and 75lbs of lead in the bow. At full throttle, "on plane" and given that the load was not even close to properly balanced, it was a bit scary. With a properly balanced load, mine handles nicely and will do 18-20 mph according to my GPS.

I dont anything in the bow.....I had a 6 on it and it did 12....not enough for me. i runn a long tiller arm and use my body to distribute the weight

Hey Bill, a buddy of mine bought two of Buds boats from a friend of Buds a few years ago. I know he ended up meeting Bud and hunting with him a couple times. Are looking for specific info on your boat or just a general history of his operation? I'll see if my buddy kind find anything out for you. Luke

Oh hey Luke...........yea like what he recomends for a motor. I was just curious there is nothing online about him. I have some other questions as well. I know if the boat where built to the standard of BBSB then they can hold a lot of wieght. I was just wondering what some of those numbers are..... I eventualy want to build my own.
