Nice job Mike, I just cut up a sheet of cork Friday for the first time and of course I screwed up. Instead of cutting them in to blocks first so I could draw the top view and then the side. I had the bright idea that I could get 3 more decoys out of the sheet if I cut out the top view first (looked like a jig saw puzzle) but now I can't lay the side pattern on them to trace that out. I guess I'll just have to free hand it,unless somebody as a suggestion (hint, hint, help). Mike did you ever live in southeastern Ma. I knew a Mike Frechette from Swansea?

Phil,
Really...Wasn't me, i've always lived in RI but have worked in Mass. for the last 15 years or so.

You can still save it, make a jig to cut them out. Go over to the duckblind i believe Willy has a little tutorial on making a jig. It's exactly what you need.

just figure out where shelf is going, slope of rump--are you doing tail insert? if so, mark the tail pattern where in will go eddpest into the body-on side scribe a line corresponding to the angle of tail-using a piece of scrap from the tailboard, trace the edge of the bottom of the body and cut, using that as a pattern to lay out the top and bottom of tail-thickness---if you have a good, sharp bandsaw blade, you can do all cuts-just take your time---if you are a bit shaky on holding things still while saw does the work, you CAN make a jig for cutting---i think mike smyser has left that information on our website-www.runamuckdecoys.com

Hey Mike,

it a beauty bird that ... very good look. Fir more punch , you can add color ( high light color ) on the head .... Buffy have a lot

Good luck

Mike,

Nice drake Buffy! Now where are the pictures of the yellow one you just finished? Is that it in the background?

Best!
Scott

Mike - Nice bird! Would love to see a rig of those rascals... The butterballs would love them.

Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!

Mike, Looks like you put a good amount of effort into the yellow duck. I suspect over the long run it will be one of the most appreciated decoys you make.

Best,
Scott

the thing is I tried a few yellow duckys and screwed them up so bad I went for daffy.........

they sorta looked like tweety bird had been in an industrial accident!

Mike I checked Willy's site but couldn't find anything about a jig, I'm not saying it's not there just that I couldn't find it nor could I find it on the runamuck site. Now when you say a jig do you mean cutting an other one and saving the side view and using that for all of them?
