Cabela's Wader reviews

Hey guys I may be buying a new set of waders and I have folks tell me to buy the cabelas 1600 Denier waders, Anybody have experince with them?

My only complaint is the shoulder straps won't stay snug or on my shoulders. I really like the waders though.

Love mine. Used to get cold feet easily, not anymore. Also, I've busted brush to the beaver marsh in them and haven't torn them yet.

I just bought a pair, first time in a long time I haven't had cold feet. Can't speak to durability yet, but I like them so far.

I have a pair that I haven't worn in a few years. Being a boat hunter I find them way too stiff when climbing in and out of boats. I've been using the Cabela's 3mm flex waders. Lighter and much more comfortable for me. Use of foot warmers takes care of any thermal insulation differences and they cost significantly less. I did just patch 5 small leaks in them, two small punctures in the front of a leg and three pulls in the crotch. They get used!

I just retired mine after four good years of service. I have never had a pair of waders last that long. They would have lasted longer if I would have taken better care of them and dried them properly. I will be ordering another pair before next season. Just wish they made them with the new zipper front!

OK Heres my tale. I bought the same wader you're going to buy 3 years ago. I loved them no cold feet and warm for the body. A little heavy for an old fart like me. About a month ago I started getting a wet right foot. Looked the boot over didint see anything , but the water at that time was warm, last Thursday the water was cold and I had a boot full when launching. When I got home I was going to find the leak. It was a crack in the heel about 3" long horizontally. A deffinite defect. Not a snag or puncture. Called up Cabelas Costomer Service and UPS is picking them up tomorrow to be replaced. The way it should be. I like a company that stands behind their product. Unlike HARDCORE Decoys that wont return my phone calls. A new thread will be comming soon.

absolutely love them. 2nd pair actually. They originally came with velcro on the straps, tore open the inside of my wading coat. That drove me nuts. talked to Cabelas, they replaced them 4 years ago with ones that have clips/snap deals. Layouts/boats/marshes/swamps, done it all, yet never had any issues. They are heavy, don't kid yourself on that, however, I never get cold now. No signs of stress on the seams or the chest pockets or crotch so they have paid for themselves in my book after 4 years.

I have had a set for about four years. I have the same problem Hank does, my shoulder straps will not stay snug. It is a little bit of a pain. The other thing that I have noticed is that the boots seem much larger and heavier than other boots, I guess for obvious reasons. If you are going to be mostly stationary and in a boat, not walking great distances, they are the right wader. I don't think my feet have ever been cold in them. Good luck.

Just got a new pair 1 month ago they have redesigned the shoulder straps and the problem is FIXED these waders IMO are now Nirvana, mine get alot use considering. Boots are very large but if its cold you will be a happy person

Warm feet shoulder straps slide. I can fix that, but as usual I have put a hole in them. Freakin beaver spears. right above the boot.

I have the 1600's i do like them but the boots are very bulky. I also just bought the ultimate hunting waders from cabelas they arnt as warm but they are less bulky and easier to walk in. Overall i have had many wader brands and by far cabelas are the best i have used.

Hank try crossing the straps in an X behind yourr back then buckle them up this will take -up the slack and keep the straps from falling off your shoulders.

Cas, not sure you can do that, on mine (both pairs I owned) they have the clips backwards on each one. Meaning on the right side, the strap has the male end of the clip and on the left side they have the female end, I was told it was do when you reach behind to grab the strap if it doesn't match you know you crossed and need to get the other one. Mine are 4 + years old, maybe they changed it, but just saying you might not be able to.

Yep, the ones I bought just this fall are that way too. Their ad says the ends can be buckeled together around your waist that way as well, if you are doing a lot of walking and only need waist high.

Had them for a number of years and absolutely love them. Only complaint is what others have said - the shoulder straps don't stay put. I tried various ways to get the straps to stay but whatever I did, did not work. A couple years back I gave up and just use a good wader belt around the waist and don't worry about the shoulder straps anymore. I can go just as deep with just the belt and I no longer have the snuggy effect when I used the shoulder straps.

Chris once again I love my waders and Cabelas stood behind their product and sent me a new pair. You cant ask for more than that. However I think the reason the heel of the boot cracked was because of the Cabelas Wadre Hangers I hung them in during the off season. The hangers definetly pinch the heel of the boot and thats what I feel did it. I'll be looking for hangers that are wider.

I have the Cabelas 5mm 1600 gram boot waders. They have been nothing but horrible. I purchased the waders last summer and wore them a total of 5 times and they had 3 different leaks. The good news about this is Cableas will ALWAYS take back a Cabelas brand product for an even exchange. After being fed up with being wet after hunting one morning I drove straight to Cabelas to return them. Even with muck all over the boots and empty shells in the front pocket they took them back and gave me a new pair. HOWEVER, I just wore the new pair snow goose hunting last week and AGAIN they leak in multiple places. I think I am going to take them back for in-store credit this time. Have yet to find a good neoprene wader.
