Camo'ed up my Chuck Huff

I have spent the past several evenings working on getting my boat camouflaged for the season. I started by laying down a base of netting material which has a factory sewn leafy layer over the netting.

This base was attached by a combination of hot glue, zip ties and adhesive bases and screwing down under the grassing rails.

I then sewed up a soft cover for the cockpit. This cover starts with a wind and water resistant nylon base layer to which the netting and leafy material is sewn to.

It rolls out over the cockpit area when in use and can be quickly rolled to the back edge of the cockpit as needed.

The tabs hold it there when chasing down a cripple or motoring to and from my spot. Going down the road the roll will be under the hard cover.

This afternoon I went out and added some natural grasses. I think I am ready.

I could go out and try for some geese in the morning but I think I am going fishing instead.

Dave, very nice, but "going fishing" WHAT? The fish would have to be jumping in the boat to choose that over madien voyage after fowl. But that's me. Either way have have fun and good work.

Dave:
Your boat camo looks great and will help keep the elements at bay. I'm glad you managed to not fall off the garage roof getting that overhead shot. Please share a photo of your boat and camo next time you get out hunting.

Its all about Building that Bond.

Awesome work on the boat Dave. The ducks don't stand a chance. Are you sneaking up on the fish with this boat as well?

Sweet job!

One question for you... how do you keep the grass attached while hauling the boat over the highway? Or do you grass it up after reaching your destination?

Thanks guys, I spent a bit of time mulling over just how I wanted to make it all work and fit together.

Charlie,
That ducks will only be in trouble if I can shoot straight. I guess I could always just use a camera, no cripples when using a camera. :>) :>)

The temp today hit 89 degrees, way better suited for fishing than hunting.

John,
I'll post a few hunting pictures for sure, maybe a few will even have some dead ducks in them.

Steve
Fall off the garage roof??? I didn't think I was that old and feeble.

What I lack in decoy carving skills is made up for in sewing skills. :>) :>) After all, a sewing machine is just another power tool right?

Shermie,
At least I don't have to deal with killer tides here in the heart of Iowa. Hope your ankle heals up for you.

Eddie,
Shipping would be prohibitive, guess you will just have to bring Amber and come on over for a visit.

Thanks to everyone else for the positive comments. I have a few custom touches to add to the interior yet but that may not happen right away.

Doug,
The grass is packed under the rails tight enough to stay there during most highway travel. The picture was taken right after a 15 mile trip at 65mph. It will lose some of the fullness over several trips. Most of the time I'll add just a small amount of vegetation directly from my hunting spot to help blend any color mismatch.
