Can you see my hand?

My eye surgeon was 3 feet in front of me sitting on an office chair, when he asked me that question. I quickly said, "Yes." He then held up some fingers to see if I could see how many and I said, "I'm just glad I can see your hand."

Dr. Himmel then told me that he had put in a large air bubble that was pushing up against the donor's cornea (5th layer only) to keep it in place and from what he could see, the results from yesterday's surgery looked great.

I know that I'll be wearing dark glasses for quite a while as everything begins to heal. That should not present any problems. The best news of all was that when he found out that our teal season opens in 22 more days, he just asked me to be careful. "No heavy lifting," was his cautious statement. I told him that a bluewing teal only weighs a pound!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. That meant a great deal to me.

My little buddy, Chip, is growing up fast.

Good to hear that all went well with the eye surgery. The pup is looking good, by the way his distance relative Bella II is weighing in at 90+ so I bet he just might be getting a little bigger. Will be in the area on Sunday chasing some doves and will try to stop by to say hello if time allows.

Al~

Great news!

My Mom had the bubble, too, last time.

I had a different procedure last November right before our rifle season for deer. I happened to mention the upcoming hunting to my surgeon - who was a shooter and understood what a .30-'06 was all about - and he said simply: "Please don't." I waited a week before shooting any gun.

All the best,

SJS

Good news Al. With all the modern tools they still hold up a hand for you to count fingers? Just kidding Al.

Awesome news AL! Of course for selfish reasons; I love you photos and your stories of the hunt!

Seriously I am glad the prognosis is good.
I believe you posted a series of Chili retrieving birds directly to "her blind".
If you can some how incorporate the 'mule' as her blind and teach her to place the blocks you will be following his advise to the letter. Be careful, that pup is growing like a weed and may be to hefty to pick up.

So glad the surgery went well.

Best - Paul

Al, Good to hear the great news. Been a sad day here with a funeral of an Odessa classmate but as they say "life goes on". Really happy for you, reminds me of my lasik surgery and how great is was to be able to see road signs w/o glasses. BTW that Chip is one fine looking pup, right color and all!!:)

I would like to thank each and every one of you personally but I have found out that I'm not that tough yet. So please accept this blanket announcement of "Many thank you's!"
Al
