Cardiologist

In January, We took Kodi into the vet, because he had been wheezing....

The vet ultimately took chest Xrays. We were told that he had an enlarged heart. They recommended a specialist...

We went to a Board Certified Canine Cardiologist today. As it turns out. The vet misread the Xray. The Echo says that Kodi's heart is not enlarged. And his lungs were.. "BORING" which apparently means super awesome. She even said that if she was revieweing the Echo and didn't know the patient... NEVER would have guessed he was 10!!!

This is ALL great news.. except we still don't know why he is wheezing...

Well, so much for my second career as a Vet!

I hope its nothing serious, give him a scratch behind the ears from me.

My chessie has the same issues about 4 times a year. I think it is allergies it last about a week then he is fine. He is also 10yrs old in great shape it doesn't slow him down at all.

One vet said the same to me about my 15 year old CBR.
Thought I was going to have to put her down.
Took her for all kinds of test, all the vet said was I wish all my internal organs looked and functioned as good as hers do.
So we went hunting and let her make a couple of easy retrieves.

Just lost my first reply so this will be more brief...

Have laryngeal paralysis (larpar) and congestive heart failure been ruled out?

Blastomycosis usually produces a "honking" cough rather than "wheezing" but blasto is UGLY and best ruled out sooner rather than diagnosed later.

I assume these have all been considered already.

Good luck, hope the old boy feels good other than the wheezing.

Sorry Andrew... There is a fee to get that!

Yes Congestive heart failure is not it The Cardiologist said his heart is nearly perfect. My vet initially thought it was Lapar, but ruled it out.

I don't recall Blasto being mentioned.

There is no change in his personality or activity level.

official diagnosis is Mild Chronic Bronchitis...

Does he cough every once in a while? Is his bark sounding a higher pitch than it used to?

Have him checked for laryngeal paralysis if so.

Good luck
