Cayenne

It started this morning early (4AM) and then at 9:32 she gave birth to her tenth chocolate pup which happened to be a female. Mom is doing well and her litter is, also. The pups are now dry and look a lot better than when I took this shot. Like Bev said, we have 7 milk chocolates and 3 semi-sweet chocolates!

Cayenne, How do you spell relief?

Hi Dave,
Relief for us was when we found out what a great mom, Cayenne, is turning out to be. For her first litter she has done remarkably well.

Must be something in the water? :-)

Jim, I think you are correct when saying that. Bev and I were discussing the colors of this litter and the more we looked at the dark chocolates the more we think they are black, however, one of those 3 we still aren't sure about. It definitely makes a difference looking at a dry dog verses a wet one. Of course we had this discussion a half hour ago when it was 3AM. Maybe that is why?

I just took this shot a couple of minutes ago.

Congrats Al
Great looking pups,Mom and puppies looking good.

Thanks, Doug. What a difference another day makes. By the way, when you guys pick up that new black, make sure you post some pics. I'm looking forward to that.

Glad everything went well Al. Cayenne is going to need all the help that she can get with 10 little ones

Hey, Mike. Last night when Bev and I were getting ready for bed we were discussing what transpired during the past 15 hours. I asked her if she ever thought she would be up to her elbows in placentas and umbilical cords at this stage of her life-----she just smiled. We love what we are doing.
Cayenne and her crew are right behind my chair as I type this. I sure do enjoy hearing all those sounds that only a litter of 10 new born pups can make.

Congrats Al! Good Luck. I know pics will keep on coming and I look forward to them all!

Hi Blaine---
Thanks so much. All is going well now. At the present moment mom is sound asleep along with half of the pups. The other half are still nursing. It is amazing how you can watch that little tummy begin to fill out when they begin to nurse. More pics later on.

Al,
Great looking pups. Keep us posted on the color. I am a Chocolate Man.
As I type this I am in Anchorage Alaska for a two weeks vacation. Thought you might appreciate that.

Hey Sonny,
Thanks so much for the reply. I envy you for being in one of my most favorite spots in North America. I wish you nothing but luck, good fortune, and plenty of great sight seeing weather.
Hard to imagine that it was 46 years ago this July 29th that I drove into Alaska on the Alcan. A lifetime of memories were created in those 8 great years I spent up there.

Al,
Not trying to hijack your thread. We will be staying in Anchor Point fishing and sight seeing.
Sonny

Enjoy your stay, Sonny. Make sure to take lots of pictures. I, for one, will look forward to seeing them when you get back.
I just took this shot of Cayenne and her pups. She is turning out to be a great mother. The birthing area is immaculate and the tummies of the pups are getting that "round" look already.

Al,
Always love seeing your puppy pics. What names do you have picked. I remember the superbowl pups were named after players. My aunt is a breeder and goes down the alphabet a whole litter will have "A" names the next letter all "B" names. All good till she got to "O" and named one obama. She had trouble selling that puppy. We all had a laugh at that one.

Hi Chris,
I liked your story about your aunt's naming the pups. As for this litter, we have two grand daughters coming in about two weeks from Wausau, WI, so I know that job will be left just for them.
