CBS News: Ethanol bad for enviroment

Granted this is a seven year old USDA article, but I strongly doubt if production costs have declined sufficiently to make the previous ethanol from sugar cane statement valid. Per this analysis, it isn't more cost effective than ethanol from corn. The reader should also note that production of sugar from sugar cane declined to slightly over 40% of domestic sugar production, with the remainder coming from sugar beats, a trend that continued into 2013.
