Charcoal Lab

I've had many Labs: yellows, a chocolate, a few blacks and now a charcoal Lab named Hazel. If registered she will be called a Black Lab because there is no designation for "off" colors like red, white, gray or charcoal. I didn't set out to get an off-color lab, but faith brought us Hazel. She is 13 weeks old today and doing great. She loves her big sister Tutti. I'm not a dog snob. I love dogs and I love to share the dog "experience" with anyone who wants to try hunting. I train for obedience, control and drive. Hazel has already exhibited these traits, so I'm excited for her future. Wish me luck. I'm ready to get to work! Hazel.jpg20251227_110638.jpg

Hi Dan-just curious if that is the color coat the dog will have for it's life or will it darken as it gets older? And maybe you don't know.

Dan,
I always marvel how a pup, at eight weeks, can be taken from their mom and they just happily cleave to their new family. Looks like you have a bundle of joy. Good luck with your training although I believe my dog has taught me more than I have taught her.

Thanks for the encouragement and comments. What's the opinion in general on Dog insurance? This pup is prone to skin issues due to the off-color pigment. I've never had insurance in 45 years of dogs but maybe it's time to think about it.
