Chili was 2 or 3 years old when this took place

I was building a blind in hopes that water would come when this cow wandered over to see what was going on.

The cow was only a couple of feet from Chili's face and she never made a sound. Right after the picture was taken she turned her head like it was never there.

Later in the season this is what it looked like.

al, do you have any more shots of the atv. Looking to add an extension out of plywood on one. Yours looks good. bob

Al, I bet later that day Chili had dreams of that cow and how he was chasing it out of there. My dogs would have an adventure and then later, as they slept they would be dreaming and barking their heads off, feet going crazy. Like Steve said, it is fun to imagine what they think and dream. Trip.

Al - I was gunning a farmer's field years ago for early season geese. We shot a few and the action was about over but still fairly early, maybe around 9:00 when the farmer let about 3 dozen dairy cattle out into the same field.
Needless to say, we immediately began rounding up the decoys. I was not paying attention to my older female chocolate in our haste to get the deeks up and safe from the herd.
Next thing you know, a big black and white cow gallops past. I turned around to see the old dog amusing herself by charging the cows until they ran and then charging another.
She looked like she never had so much fun with her ears and tail straight up !
Of course, I put a quick stop to her little rodeo but it was really funny to watch the old girl on a power trip.

thats great! thanks i got a good chuckle out of that.

Thanks, Mike. I have some shots that I periodically go through just for those laughs. It is fun to remember those times.

That's funny...I can just imagine what was going through Chili's head.

Hi Steve,
Glad you liked it. Chili is different in many ways. For example when ever I pull my camera out and want to take her picture, I swear she turns her head the other way on purpose!

When you watch a dog do something for the first time I agree with you, it is fun. It sounds like your pup was in heaven running around. I'll bet you gathered those deeks in post haste! Pepper tried that on the longhorn bull where I cut firewood. I have finally gotten her to stop chasing cattle. I don't need her dead.

That is funny/
The look on her face is like if I pretend its not there then it will go away. LOL

Well said, Doug. Chili is different but a most wonderful companion that any duck hunter would ever want.
