Christmas present idea.

I cut these out with intentions to finish over ten years ago. They are from scraps of caribou antler. Now they are done!

This winter's theme in the shop is all about finishing odd projects. I don't plan on taking any decoy orders, but rather finish off some artsy stuff I've been wanting to get to for a while. I've got to finish some family fish trophies as well as some antler carvings. I plan to post them up as I get them done.

Anyone else working on any Christmas gifts?

Ah, its winter in the north woods isn't it?

I like the idea of finishing old projects. I think I will try and follow suit and finish up the things I have been planning to get done.

It really looks wintery these days Brandon. We had a white Hallowe'en and we've already had several mornings of hoar frost. I was hoping to get my snowmobiles from Jane's cabin this weekend but didn't, but there is enough snow to head out up high.

We have found that we have to get our Christmas presents in the mail by the end of Nov up here, or they might not make it.

Here's another one just about done.

Mike, good job on the antler carvings. That is one medium I won't be working much in. I made a couple horn buttons once and that was about enough. The smell of cutting bone and horn is not a favorite of mine. I suppose if you can keep it from heating up it might not be too bad but I'm not that patient. :-)

This fish really isn't a Christmas present as it is for myself. I really like the looks of male black crappies. I do have one or two to finish but they really aren't for Christmas either but just gifts. I need to get my butt in gear and cut up and finish some boards to put them on.

Thanks for reminding me:( I have a project I've been putting off, and I have probably reached my limit on procrastination...

dang it Mike ! your not supposed to be cutting up that stuff !! your supposed to send it to me so I can !!!

never mind....just make a pile-o-scraps-n-sheds , maybe I can convince the wife that I'm supposed to come pick it up !
Preferably around duck season !!!

Those look like some really cool projects , mine usually involve having to clean something up , (shop, garage,my room etc.)

whats on the list next ?

Do you want some more scraps? I'll put some usable stuff aside for you if you want. I might be doing an ivory carving too.

Tim, that fish looks awesome! I wish I could paint like that. Keep posting pictures of those as you get them done.

Mike,
AB -SO - LUTE - LEE !!

Anything you got ! Always trying to stock up on Handle material.

Well you gotta show us some of the stuff you are working on then. Hey I gotta tell you that damascus blade you sent Mac is incredible for holding an edge. I skinned out that little deer of mine including the head and never touched it. IN fact, in all the work it has done I think I only touched it up once on a diamond sharpener.

So what are you working on these days?

Mike

All your" crap " went into the handle stuff bin !!
you know the one that never can have enough stuff in it ?!
the lightbulb is flickering on a few blades I have, just looking for the right combo of "stuff" . Its probably all here , just need to bring it all together.

Trying to get some bills paid off , so travel is out of the question right now. Hopefully can make it in the future.

don't count me out just yet.
