Steve Sanchez and I carved these late last spring and I just now got around to wrapping them up. These are part of Steve's growing frond rig - and bound to hunt reaches of the SF bay this season. He wanted a decoy that was reminiscent of the region - hence the frond style and simpler paint. These are all large frond palms with minimal shaping, pine heads, tack eyes and a lead pad weight. I put a little patina into the painting, they just didn’t look nostalgic enough all bright and clean. Look for some more pics this season of Steve’s growing frond rig. Greenwings are up next.
