Closing out another chapter in my life.

I have owned a bow and arrow ever since I was 8 years old. By the early 1980's I was shooting every day. 5 days a week at the archery range. Three weekends a month at a shooting tournament.
Got real good at it and enjoyed it immensely.
Today, it's a different story. That chapter in my life is memories. Time to reclaim some of the floor space in my garage.
This the second of three loads to go to the carboard recycle bin. Flattened cardboard boxes made a very effective archery backstop, back in the day. The rear wall of my garage had a section devoted to stopping my daily arrow barrage.
Now that space will be utilized for something new. 😁

One of my first jobs out of highschool was working at a box company. One of the fork truck drivers dumped a huge load of John Deere boxes and messed up the printing and the boxes so Deere wouldn't take them. I was working 3rd shift and I asked my boss since they have to be scrapped can I have them. He looked the other way and said I could if they were off the property by the end of my shift. Knowing I couldn't do myself he probably figured it would t happen. I called my dad and a couple of buddies. One had a car hauler. They got them home and that target lasted about 4 years as we always kept it covered with a tarp. We laid two 8ft, 2x4s over it and used. Used a boat wench on both ends and when need be gave it a couple cranks to tighten it up. The boxes were 4 ft wide and 8 ft long. I have a compound still hanging on the wall in the basement. I know it's set at 68 lbs and it's a 50% let-off but I can't hold that bow long enough to aim to save my soul. The next day my shoulder is so cranky I can barely lift my arm over my head.
