and an email memo just came in from my HR folks informing me that I've accumulated too much vacation time and must take some before January 1.

So I'm going hunting . . . report later.

No wind, but everything else seems to be in my favor today.

Jeff- I'm hunting all week starting tomorrow. Give me a holler.

Nice afternoon--but no ducks. And I mean NO ducks. A few flocks of geese flying high overhead, and a single black duck.

We did see three eagles, and from the close look two of them gave our decoys, they aren't seeing many ducks either.

It is terrible to be forced to do something like that during duck season, Jeff. Hope you can put up with it. Good luck!

HAH! gotta love it. Do you work for a European company? :) I was told basically the same thing and I will be taking all of next week off, and I still have two weeks to tranfer into next year! I wish I was spending it hunting though. I will have to settle for dropping my wife off at work and going for little day trips/hikes in the Fribourg Alps...

In Switzerland, by law, you have to take two consecutive weeks vacation a year (you get 5 weeks at the start of the year) - we did that in August. I have no idea where they find time to take vacation! My colleagues look at me like I'm from Mars when I say this. They say they take the time to use their vacation, and plan work around vacation, not the other way around. I don't think i will ever get used to it. in mid-2014 I will have been at my company for 10 years, and in Switzerland, they give you an extra week's vacation! 6 weeks! Arrrghhhh! As someone else wrote, a nice problem to have...

Enjoy! In my opinion, a bad day out hunting is still better than a day at work!

Sincerely

Anthony
