Good morning, All~
As others have mentioned, the interwebs and especially duckboats.net have allowed many of us to expand our universe of fowl friends. I enjoy knowing gunners from across the continent - most of whom I have yet to meet face-to-face. Every once in a while, though, modern communications put me in touch with some local enthusiasts. A couple of winters back I got a note from an experienced gunner from about a half-hour due south of me. We enjoyed a nice visit and - as so often happens - one thing led to another and he asked for some help re-painting some gunning stool. We coated and painted a handful of Herter's Model 72 Black Ducks that he had found up in Saratoga Springs, I believe. We worked on them last winter and this past Saturday was their first trial by fire.
Father, son and retriever had a sweet morning in the sunshine. There was no temperature at all, with zero degrees left in the thermometer. Nevertheless, there was enough open water on a local river to lure in some fine "red-leggers".

A side-by-side comparison provided a good field test - of Espresso Beans, Mocha Latte and even Curry Powder (Behr's paint colors all)......

Even the hardest-working team member seems satisfied with the results.
