Connecticut Waterfowlers Asso. Decoy Day

For the past several years the Connecticut Waterfowlers Association has hosted a "Decoy Day" at the Bozrah Rod and Gun Club in Lebanon, CT. It's been a fun event with a very informal decoy contest, raffle, etc.. . . . sort of an early season get together for local hunters. Several members from this forum have participated each year. Anyway, the event has snuck up on us and it is this coming Saturday, August 25th. If anyone is interested in more info, you can email me or call either myself (860-739-5586) or Paul Capatosto (860-848-1879). Hope to see you there!

It should be good weather for you guys as I wont be bringing the rain down from Vermont with me like every other year I've made the trip.

At least there are no hurricanes coming this year.

Eddie

Sorry you can't make it this year Ed, always look forward to seeing your latest work.

Chris, do you best to get the day off, your birds are too nice not to show off!

Looking forward to it, always a good time.

Ed, We missed you at the decoy fun day. It was a great time as always and the decoys all looked great out in the pond. I didn't take any pictures but I am sure someone has some. Thanks To CWA, Rich C., and Bill E. for putting this event on every year and congratulations to Mike F..

A lot of nice looking decoys there. Pete that mallard is wicked. I finally got some of that black cork busted up. I made a pair of GWT's, Woodies and a half doz mallards out of that really nice sheet you gave me. I've got a few blacks and mallards done out of the other stuff, I'm hoping to get them painted up before hunting season.

Eddie

If I could find some more thats of the consistency of that one good sheet I would give up on tan cork. As far as the other common black stuff if you can get past the mess its decent hunting decoy material. I've got pine bottom boards and tails in them and used west systems epoxy to hold it all together. The first ones are soaking up the gac 100 right now and should be painted by this weekend for my lake champlain decoy thing on sunday.

Hows the waterfowl fest coming this year?

Eddie

I know what you are saying about the cork, it is so hard to find nice black cork. The Waterfowl festival is going good. It is this weekend and I hope for good weather. Look forward to the next time I get to see you and talk decoys and hunting.
Pete

Mr. Revicki I have to birds allegedly in transit to you via UPS. the assured me they would be there by then end of this business day. could not get them there quicker due to the holiday. hope it goes well for you guys
