Cooking in the boat blind?

Last year I put together a little cook set for my boat and blind. I have a Coleman multi-fuel, ultra light backpacking stove, pots and pans, cookware, etc. I used it to make some pretty good hot ham-n-cheese sandwiches and some awesome multi-cheese, grilled cheese sammys. Worked out great!

Not only is it nice and hot, but it's fresh too. Also helps use up some of the slow time. (either that, or I tend to fall asleep...)

Anybody have some ideas for cooking up some delicious, yet easy to prepare meals with this limited equipment?

Here's one of the hot ham-n-cheese sandwiches-

Jon,
There is so much you could do. How about pancakes? They have those plastic bottles of pancake mix - just add water. Or premake bisquits and gravy - chunk up the bisquits and put in the gravy before you go out. Even better, vacuum seal and then just heat up in hot water.

Jon,

What about an omelet? Just like Pete said with the biscuits and gravy, premix them in ziplock bags then boil them on the boat.

A small cooler will keep things cool and also from freezing. We pick up a few scallops or oysters in our creeks, with a little flour and butter, mmmmn... Duck breast cut thin... Couple garlic also useful..
We open Thanksgiving, can't wait...

Hashbrowns and/or tortillas (what my spanish mother calls them)! You peel and shred the potatoes beforehand and stick them in a ziplock together with 2-3 eggs individually beat-up! You can release them into the frynig pan in one fluid motion. A bit of cheese on top with salt, pepper and paprika rulez.

Soups! You don't have to worry about heating it up before you go or trying to keep it warm while you are out there.

Some of the camping stoves come with a foil "screen" to wrap around the stove below your cooking pot. They really come in handy putting the heat where you need it, especially on a windy day.

C-rats? I would like to have a case of B3's with ham slices. Can still taste those ham slices on round crackers with that kneaded cheese then some canned peaches for desert!
GOOD STUFF, John

Has its own carry case thats edible

Kevin,

Thats a long way to go for a breakfast borito. They must be pretty good.

Blind Burgers! with pepper jack cheese. We have done the breakfast samiches as well, love soups warmed up in the blind, and saugage with peppers and onions.

We usually take a collapseable Coleman 2 burner camp stove to cook a brunch. Old pans with the handles cut way down saves on packing space. A lot of the times we cook it up the night before so it only has to be re-heated to save some time. The omelette in a zip lock bag is a great idea. We do this as well.

And I thought I was the only one who did the bag-o-omelette thing. lol
I keep a one burner stove in the sneak boat with all the fixins for a decent breakfast but the tender has the fully stocked fridge, two burner stove, full size griddle and BBQ on deck.

I do like cooking in the sneak boat best. Just something about it, kind of makes me feel more like I'm camping and a little extra heat goes a long way.

Ever notice as soon as you start cracking eggs thats when the birds drop in. I think they are sacrificing them salves to save the children.

Wendell,

Sounds like you need Paul Strombech's pup in your blind.

we make up the omeletes the night before and put it in a rinsed out gatorade bottle. the egg bag works but if it pops you will get some egg on your face and none in your stomach. i usually have a bunch of deer sausage and of course bacon you have to have bacon.

we had taquitos once, perogies, lots of MRE's from the hurricanes

the first duck commander dvd i bought had them boil up 20 or so pounds of king crab legs. i always wanted to one-up them and boil up some fresh lobster.

I'm doing something wrong, when I'm out on the meadow,I have a wet/muddy dog in a small boat, can't imagine cooking breakfast.I'm happy if I remember a pack of crackers and a thermos of coffee, and the dog gets half the crackers...lol.You guys know how to live!

I kick my dog out of the boat to air out when I fire up the stove. Then when she smells something cooking she comes running back and sits there crying to comeback in. If she is lucky she gets to lick the pan and clean up the mess. She is like a Hoover vacuum with a rinse cycle.
