One more 'glassing lesson I learned the Hard Way....

One can use polyethylene plastic sheet as a non-stick for epoxy but NOT for polyester resin. Mold release wax , PVA or cellophane are the proven agents.

I do not see why your source recommended the 12x12 squares. Seems unnecessary from my experience. Cut darts into the fabric if it will not lay flat, but otherwise I would go with 1-piece .

I can assure you no matter what the initial result is you can fix it. Fiberglass is incredibly forgiving if you don't mind putting in the time. Fillers and sandpaper work miracles.

Hey Steve,

The poly sheet did work. I stuck a putty knife between the poly an the fibreglass and it popped of with little effort. The wrinkles caused some pooling of resin and some ares of where the core material and the glass did not laminate. I agree with that not using squares would have been better. Most of the sphere core when on in 2 pieces. I was very easy.

As I said to Steve I pulled to out of the mold and cleaned up the edges it seems to be quite strong. The laminate is very thin. It looks a bit dangerous and I'll have to figure out how to add a moulding or some sort of trim along the exposed edge. As I mentioned there are some large bubble like structures in the wrinkles -- not quite sure how I will deal with this ... dark out now. That will be tomorrows worries.

I should have explained: The wrinkling IS the problem with polyethylene. No such wrinkles with the other mold release agents.
