Cordura for Spray Dodgers?

I found a place where I can purchase 1000 denier Cordura by the yard that is coated (waterproofing) and available in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass or Mossy Oak Duck Blind. I am considering having my spray dodger made from this material.

Has anyone used Cordura for spray dodgers before? Pros? Cons? Photos?

C, I used Sunbrella in taupe color, then I sprayed a waterproofing agent on it, You can paint it too,Some guys dont like Sunbrella, but it works great so far,You can find remmnants on e-bay,that is where I bought mine, hope this helps, Brian Rippelmeyer

Jim,
You on something mind altering? I do ropes and stuff, but don't know nothing about fabrics. If I did I would share.

Get back to work!

Maybe he meant Dave Clark??

If I remember past conversations, Cordura is ok if you dont keep the dodger on while stored outside during the off-season. And it needs to be dried each trip.
I've never had a spray dodger, but I have seen some cordura shrouds used around deer huntin' tree stands, after one season (oct-feb) in the woods, it was looking pretty rough.

Dave Clark is too far from me unfortunately, I wish he was closer as he does beautiful work. I have been talking to my local marine canvas guy and he does not have a source for camo material. I found www.snydercreek.com online, they sell 1000 denier camo cordura and I am hoping to make the spray dodger out of this.
I have no problem taking it off when not in use, in fact I had planned on doing so. I was curious if anyone out there had a dodger made of cordura and what their experience was with this material for this application.

I am ordering truck seat covers from Marathon Seat Covers. The material of choice is "highest quality waterproof Cordura Nylon".

The key word is "nylon".

Nylon being a man made fabric, will degrade in direct proportion to it's exposure to UV rays. Just like the epoxy in your boat needs protection from the UV, the nylon cordura will need to be protected when not in use. Marathon recommends a spray on protectant for their seat covers. I don't know if such a product could be used on a Nylon spray dodger. I have a layout blind which is made from cordura and it is holding up well. When not in use it is stored inside. I would expect the cordura to be just fine for a spraydodger, provided the dodger is either covered or removed when the boat is stored.

I built my dodgers, side compartment curtains, roll-top cockpit covers, and eningine cover out of Cordura 1000D. It has held up extremely well, although the camo pattern has started to fade a little.

I built my dodger on my barnaget and my southbay out of 1000 curdura.
My bankes boat blind is out of cordura. All are holding up well.
I do not keep them exposed the sun. Right now they are in my garage but will go on at the start of the duck season.
If you buy curdura try and get the curdura without the white cotten fabric glued on the inside. I could not find it without so I painted the inside of the cordurao

Bill & Bill... since you guys used the 1000 deneir Cordura for your spray dodgers, how waterproof did you find it to be? How did it hold up to saltwater?

I built my dodgess for my southbay and barnaget about 94 they are still waterproof.
They still keep me dry if thats what your asking.
I did not add grassing loops because that needle holes can allow water to enter.
