Couldn't hold out any longer...

We had our first round of ice this past week which pushed almost all of the birds off the farm. They've eaten almost all the food so I wasn't surprised when they left. With more cold on the way this week I figured now was as good a time to shoot it as any. Fun hunt with some good friends, time to let the games begin.

that is awesome. I hope you got to enjoy it with your son.

That must have been some pile of birds to eat all that you guys planted. Will cross our fingers for your next few weeks to get some cold to push the birds back and forth.

Bob,
Doing some rough calculations based on duck use days I figured there were an average of about 15,000 ducks on the farm for the last 3+ weeks. I know there were some days lower and on flight days I'd suspect I was close to 40,000 at the peak. The plan now is to shoot it a couple days a week through the end. It's been a real joy to watch it unfold and worth all the effort put in this past spring and summer.
