Coyote pups pics

Found a coyote den the other day.
Thought some of you may enjoy the pics....most of you probably own dogs.
There is a 9v battery in one pic for size comparison.

Well I know some people may think it would be best to do away with them but....
They are in fact all part(the bigger picture) of the beauty of nature IMO.
I think you're all talk Shermie.
Big ol burly you would be standin' there thinkin' the samething I was at first but after standin' there 5 minutes and watching them I think you'd change your mind.
Felt much better walkin' away...beside they'll be much more of a challenge in a few months....;)

Ps..about mom comin' back...lmao
I was laying proned out taking pics and a Chickadee landed in a small Hemlock right beside me...
Mr---this ol boy was on his feet in a hurry..lol

Nice pics Neil. They(sientists) say," that every canine on the planet can be traced to four female wolves".They are just closer coupled than a cocker spaniel.

All of God's creatures serve a purpose....even the coy dogs.

Awesome photos. The tick on the leg of that one pup is huge!

I know I sooo wanted to pluck it off but..didn't.
Probably not doing something that small much good.

Shermie I doubt many parts of me would still be waterproof is she had shown up.
The trailcam has been there almost a week and only caught her once, I have moved it three times and still haven't gotten her again.
The lens opens when it is triggered and I can hear it I'm sure she can and has figured out to stay out from in front of it, it's not her first time dealing with that camera.
One of the craftiest critters on the planet IMO.
Heres a couple from it...

Neil, I got some trapping supplies I could send you some call lure or bait. The best yote bait I have come up with is carolina pride bologna and cracklins. I put the bologna and cracklins in a grinder and out comes a thick paste.

Yes, God's creations are beautiful but I want to be tactful here. However, my attitude quickly changed about those loveable dogs when two of them were stalking me while turkey hunting this year and I had to send one of them to "coyote hell."

Neil,

I have to say you are a dang good woodsman to be getting in and out of there without running them off. As good as there sniffer is you are doing great to not leave much scent around. I've watched song dogs walk onto my back trail and they almost explode inside out the instant they get the smell.
Great pics, nice to see them, thanks.

Thank you for the compliment Kevin.
Kinda surprised myself I got 3 days/nights out of it once the pups surfaced!!!
Unfortunately after a dud visit yesterday and 0 pics in a 24hr period on the trailcam I believe she has in fact moved the pups and avoided having her picture taken as well.
I had moved the cam to watch a trail as I thought she must be calling them out to feed while avoiding the cam it does in fact make noise when triggered and the lens cover opens.
I was actually a bit worried she may abandon them even tho the pups were never touched.
Being it my fault I would have had some serious issues then, especially owning 4 domesticated dogs already and not to mention the heat I would take from hunting buds and online...lol
I believe they are one of the smartest/craftiest critters on the planet and I have to say I really enjoyed this encounter with one of Mother Natures wonders.
Wonder what the next one will be...can't wait...the cams are ready...;)

They sure have excellent hearing. About twenty or so years ago during deer season when you could shoot coyote . I had one trotting by me a about forty yards away. Raised the 30-30 and when I pulled the hammer back there is a slight click. That yote almost turned inside out. needless to say that yote did not die of lead poisoning.

I have found some dens after the fact. Surprisingly close to human activity.

Very neat pictures. Someone mentioned their ability to adapt to human presence. There was a story in the Detroit Free Press paper this morning concerning a 7 month old pup being killed by yotes in one of the surrounding suburbs a few days ago and last fall a picture of one was taken walking down a street in Detroit proper. I saw one in what was once a parking lot/recreation area owned by GM behind their tech center in Warren, Michigan Christmas Eve night a few years ago. Warren is one of the largest suburbs in the Detroit area with very little vacant land that would be considered wild left. Its amazing how animals will adapt to out invasion of their world.

We've run into them around these parts also. My oldest son, Brian, and I were duck hunting in some ponds out behind Toledo Beach Marina, Michigan a few years back. We had a yote come up on Brian...from upwind. He got about 8' from Brian and Brian "took him for a ride". ;)
Turns out that they've become a real problem around that marina. There are 3 families of yotes there and they've been picking off the poodles, chawawas (yup, sp error) and small dogs of the customers. Guess that's bad for business. We helped to eliminate their problems.

When I lived in Vancouver WA. there were coyotes all around town. Behind my house was a large field with small wood lot on the far side. A nice size pack lived in there and we'd here them almost every night. One night in particular it seemed the latest litter finally got the okay from mom and dad to go out by themselves as they ran up and down the fence line behind the yards, and you could here them playing grab ass and just having fun all over the neighborhood. It literally sounded like teenagers finally being let loose.
But with all that night time activity, we rarely saw them during the day light. Maybe once a month or so. Every now and then some clueless retiree would write to the paper complaining about the coyote that is chasing Feefee around in the yard. Then we'd hear about people wanting more green space along such and such creek but without the wildlife. Duh.
