Crow decoy

I decided to try my hand at a full-size crow decoy. At first I was going to get a pattern with accurate dimensions, but then I found some pictures of Mason and Perdew crows. I realized that artistic might better suit me. I'll add tacks for eyes and either paint or very black stain. The decoy is 17 1/2" from beak to tail. Several more and maybe an owl, then I 'll be ready to go shooting.

I like the style, kind of a Skimmer Crow hybrid. That will kill crows and if it doesn't it will still be cool to look at.

Andy,
Its a sharp looking bird. I have to say my first though was how fun it would be to paint with the different shades of black on a crow. But I think you have something on the stain idea. How cool would it be to see the grain through the dark stain how would you do the beak though. Light washes of color so the grain shows as well?

Very cool Andy!

Are there any new birds on your side of the border yet? I've been noticing a few more buffies and GE's around here, but that's about it. Lot's of cormorrants this year too.
