Here's a nice bird I called in for my brother from CT.

Been quite and not the best weather, but we got lucky yesterday.

Thanks guys.

My turn today!

9.5 inch beard 3/4 inch spurs, but a skinny guy, only 16lbs! I wonder how much the hard winter/snow has an effect on them?

He was missing some tail feather tips, and no I didn't shoot em' off!

Great going! 16 is small for a 2 year bird, but who knows if it was the winter? I have plans to get some more weight data points, myself :).

T

Yeah, small for sure.

We also had 2 deer, one doe and a yearling, about 10 yards from us this morning and they were SKINNY!

I think the snow kicked everyones butt this winter!

The winter kicked my butt for sure! I haven't ever devoted as many days to dealing with snow as I did this year :).

We had an awesome acorn crop on this side of the state last fall, so our deer and turkies were going into winter in the best possible condition. I don't know what the status out east was.

Either way any turkie is a good turkey!

Still acorns on the ground like it's fall!

And I agree, I wasn't letting him walk. He actually looked like a pig coming through the woods with that beard swinging!
