Dave Parks, I need MouseTrap info?

Dave I think you had pictures of the bucket and stick mouse trap. We are getting overrun at work in a shed. Can you put up the details of the stick arrangment over the antifreeze? Thanks, Bob.

The trap can be made by simply running a 1/4 inch dia. or so dowel long enough to span a bucket thru a can, making sure the can rotates, place the ends of the dowel on the top of the bucket filled with water. Place a small amount of peanut butter on the can, when the mouse crawls onto the can, it will flip it into the bucket. Hope this helps.

use small sections of pvc pipe as your "spinner" dont use one long piece as it take too much effort to spin.use three or so shorter sections and put the pnut butter on the inner most piece.

Merely a friendly reminder, Antifreeze will kill cats and dogs, as well as mice and rats.... Dogs are especially vulnerable as it tastes sweet to them and they lap it up.

Best of luck with your mouse trap.

It's in one of the newsletters I wrote for the club. Click on March 05...the mousetrap is on the top of page 8.

i have a mean streak and i can be prety down right sneaky so heres my version of the bucket trap for mice

you all know how many times a beer can or a bottle has a mouse stuck init right well.

i take a 5 gallon pail coat the sides with dish detergent and let it dry in the sun.this is my nasty side showin.

then when dry put it on a 45 angle leaned upa side a log or such sumthin they can crawl along to the treat in the bottom of the bucket. i then poor about 1 beer in and some water to make it deepenough to drown in then thro in a small piece of bread

now when the company comes to dinner they get to the water edge and try to get the bread thus geting there paws wet and then its all over on the slippery slope to heaven or hell, one week i had 12 mice and a weasel and about 100 carrion bugs the ones with the orange stripes on there backs and oooo wee whata stink to ..

No dogs or cats present. Esp. like the beer idea Shermie. Will try the short pvc too.
Thanks for all the rodent help.

you see there is always some sacrifices to be made back at the deer camp and 1 beer in the bucket is better then 1 bucket of mice in your camp

Hey Lou, I'm trying to track down your PDF. Doesn't look like this link is valid anymore and I can't find it on the RC website. Do you still have the archive somewhere?

Lou's site is rccd.org not com. Unfortunately the 3-05 newsletter is not listed. Found this image on the interweb.

I absolutely love having a furnace heated out building as my Model Barn. The convenience of the shop outside the
house is one of the many joys of life. I can escape to the barn, build models or just sit and look. What could get in
the way of that. MICE...that’s what. They love the heat and set up housekeeping inside my airplanes, chewing as
they go. I’ve gone the whole route of setting a trap line and catching a few. But, some always seem to drag the
trap away and you don’t find it until your nose tells you there’s a problem…..doh. Well, a buddy of mine, Gary
Hanson, gave me a solution….that doesn’t require tending trap lines. Start with a 5 gallon pail and drill a couple
of opposing holes through the top just below the rim. Run a threaded rod through the holes. You now want a rotating
cylinder. I hot melt glued 2 large pill bottles together, center drilled them and hot melt glued them to a hollow
sleeve that rotates freely around the threaded rod. Add a bit of peanut butter to the cylinder and antifreeze to the
pail and you’re ready to rock. Turns out the antifreeze prevents decomposition and lets you take care of the problem
when you have time. Caught 3 the first night...problem solved. Lou Note: keep antifreeze away from pets.

And that, folks, would be the Mouse Trap.
The club, www.rccd.org has changed servers and webmasters and we don't have all the past newsletters on site yet. It's coming. Interestingly, the AMA (American Modeler Association), picked up my lead article (transporting your models) from the Jan '08 Newsletter and republished it in their National Newsletter: http://www.modelaircraft.org/insider/index.html
Very pleased and surprised.

The archived pdf will be back up soon. I can email it to you if you'd like and I have posted the pics and info above.

Hi Bob,
They WILL find a way up there but I always give them a ramp. Just want to give them a helping hand. It's the least I can do. :)
Lou
====================
Do you need the ramp or do the mice just find a way to get to the PB ?

Thanks
Bob
