decking a jon boat

I decked over a 14' deep V last year and I used aluminum sheet over a wood frame. It proved to work well and I remove it
for the summer fishing season. I don't have any pictures but it came apart in about 20 min and stores in very little space.
I fastened everything down with short ss pan head screws. If you don't have much experience welding aluminum you may need
therapy after trying to weld the thin stuff!! (I am a weldor)
screws are just another approach, John

I used .063" sheet over 1/8" structural shapes, but I wanted a deck that can be walked on, which I got. Either .032 or .040 would work but welding the .062 was difficult enough. I still believe riveting would be the way to go for thin sheet. If you buy in decent quantities they are priced decently. The hammer tool is a bit fancier than the one I picked up through a boater's catalog but would probably work very well.
